Method 1: Using Volume and Power Buttons (Side Button)

Step 2: Press the Volume Up and power button (Side button) simultaneously on your iPhone XS.

Method 2: Using AssistiveTouch Option
If you are unable to use buttons on your iPhone XS, then you can use the AssisstiveTouch options to take screenshots.
