If you own a Google Pixel, you’re used to the monthly software ritual. Around the second week, like clockwork, the newest security patch and general update lands, bringing its share of fixes. But this October? Google decided to throw us a genuine curve ball. Just as we thought the October 8th patch was the wrap-up for the month, a surprise second update, seemingly out of nowhere, started hitting devices on October 30th. It’s the kind of unexpected treat that makes Pixel ownership fun!
This is the very definition of the “Pixel advantage.” While other Android manufacturers are still figuring out their quarterly schedules, Google’s devices are already receiving two patches in one single month. We don’t have an official change log for this mysterious late-October release—Google has been tight-lipped about what exactly this tiny package fixes—but a silent, fast-tracked second patch usually hints at a critical bug that simply couldn’t wait for the big November Feature Drop.
Perhaps it was a nasty battery drain issue or a low-level security vulnerability that needed patching ASAP. Whatever the reason, it’s genuinely reassuring to see Google acting so quickly to keep their most recent phones running in absolutely top shape.
So, which phones get to enjoy this unexpected gift? The good news is that if your Pixel is from the last three generations, you’re almost certainly covered, with the update extending to nearly every device that received the first October patch.

Here’s the Full List of Supported Pixels:
- Pixel 7 Series: Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a
- Pixel 8 Series: Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a
- Pixel 9 Series: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro/9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a
- Pixel 10 Series: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro/10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold
- Fold-able: Pixel Fold
Now for the small print. While the list above is impressively extensive, a few devices are being left out of this late-month party. The most notable omission is the entire Pixel 6 series (that includes the 6, 6 Pro, and the 6a), which is officially done with monthly patches. Likewise, the Pixel Tablet, which did get the initial October 8th patch, is surprisingly sitting this second release out. For those of you holding onto a Pixel 6 or the Tablet, don’t worry—the big one is just around the corner.
We’re expecting Google to drop the much-anticipated November 2025 Pixel Feature Drop very soon, which will undoubtedly include all the latest fixes and some exciting new features for all supported devices, making the wait worth it.
If you haven’t seen the notification pop up yet, you know the drill! Head over to Settings > System > Software updates > System update and hit ‘Check for update.’ Enjoy the bonus stability, and we’ll keep you posted when the official change log (or the massive November update) finally hits!
