Updated November 5, 2026
Quick answer: Samsung releases One UI 9 in stages, by phone model, country, and carrier, so it can take days or weeks to reach your Galaxy even after others have it. First, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check manually. If it’s not there, make sure your phone is eligible, free up storage, connect to Wi-Fi, and try again over the next few days. Carrier-locked phones in the US often get it a few days after unlocked models, or vice versa.

10 Ways to Get One UI 9 Now
1. Check for the Update Manually
Your phone only checks for updates now and then on its own. Force a check:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Software update.
- Tap Download and install.
If nothing shows up, check again once a day. Samsung opens the rollout to more phones every few days.
2. Make Sure Your Phone Is Eligible
Not every Galaxy will get One UI 9. Older phones that have already received their final major Android update won’t get it. Check the full list in our One UI 9 eligible phones guide.
3. Install Any Smaller Update First
If a security update is waiting, install it first. One UI 9 usually only appears once your phone is on the latest One UI 8.5 version.
4. Free Up Storage
The One UI 9 download is large and needs extra room to install. Aim for at least 5–6 GB free.
Go to Settings > Battery and device care > Storage to see what’s using space, and delete large videos, old downloads, or apps you don’t use.
5. Connect to Wi-Fi and Charge Your Phone
Big updates download over Wi-Fi, not mobile data. Your phone also needs enough battery, so charge it to at least 20–30%, or keep it plugged in while it installs.
6. Check If You Have a Carrier Phone
In the US, phones bought from AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon get updates after the carrier approves them. That can be a few days before or after unlocked phones get it. If yours is a carrier model, there’s nothing to change: just keep checking.
To see your phone’s model, go to Settings > About phone.
7. Wait for Your Region
Samsung usually starts each rollout in South Korea, then expands to the US, Europe, India, and other regions over the following days or weeks. If people elsewhere already have the update, yours is usually close.
8. Set Date and Time to Automatic
A wrong date can stop update checks from working. Go to Settings > General management > Date and time and turn on Automatic date and time.
9. Restart Your Phone
A simple restart clears temporary glitches that stop update checks. Hold the Side key + Volume Down, then tap Restart. Then check for the update again.
10. Update Through Smart Switch on a Computer
If the update is out in your region but won’t appear on your phone, use Samsung Smart Switch on a Windows PC or Mac:
- Install Smart Switch from Samsung’s website.
- Connect your phone with a USB cable.
- If an update is available, Smart Switch shows an Update button.
- Click it and keep the phone connected until it finishes.
Back up your phone first with Samsung Cloud or Google before any big update.
Were You in the One UI 9 Beta?
If you joined the beta, you’ll get a smaller update that moves you to the stable version. Just check Software update as usual. You don’t need to reset your phone.
What Not to Do
Avoid flashing One UI 9 firmware yourself with unofficial tools or downloads. One wrong file can soft-brick your phone or affect your warranty. Waiting a few days is the safe option.
